Roy’s Redwoods
Sunday, January 12, 2025, 10:30am – 1pm
Join us for a special naturalist adventure suitable for all ages & abilities! A bioblitz is a quick, intense survey of the species present. It’s part nature walk, part open-ended treasure hunt, and lots of joyful, careful observation. This adventure will start with a quick how-to and an introduction to fungus and the newly restored area of Roy’s Redwoods. We will then hike a short distance to our survey location to collect & photograph fungi—and other forest friends—in small groups. After the survey, participants will gather again to share finds, identify fungi, and upload observations to iNaturalist. One Tam has hosted fungi & friends bioblitzes at Roy’s Redwoods since 2018 and we hope you can be part of the first one after restoration! Adverse weather or poor air quality may cancel; if in doubt, check the calendar or call (415) 473-2816 two hours before the event to confirm the status. Registration required.
Questions: Contact James Morris
Directions: Meet at the Roy’s Redwoods Loop trailhead on Nicasio Valley Rd in San Geronimo. From Hwy 101 in Larkspur, take the exit for Sir Francis Drake Blvd west 10.8 miles, turn right onto Nicasio Valley Rd. Gate is approximately 0.5 miles up on the right.
