The Story of McInnis Park

Learn about the diverse and rich history of McInnis Park. We’ll spend our time learning about the local First Peoples, Colonial California, the Nike Missile Site, and on through to the present-day park as we know it. This event will involve a short walk uphill. Appropriate for all ages. Friendly dogs are welcome but must be leashed. Adverse weather or poor air quality may cancel; if in doubt, text or call (415) 302-4469 two hours before the event to confirm the status. Registration required.

Directions: Meet at the Hillside picnic area in McInnis Park in San Rafael (310 Smith Ranch Rd.) From Hwy 101 in San Rafael, Take the exit for Smith Ranch Rd east approximately 0.7 miles. Drive over the railroad tracks and immediately turn left to stay on Smith Ranch. (If you go through the park entrance, you have gone too far). Take your first right, find parking and walk to the first picnic site.
