Tucked in a canyon of San Geronimo Valley, this lovely trail follows a salmon-bearing creek where, with rain and luck, we might spot fish moving upstream. We'll explore the lush understory, keep an eye out for birds, see if we can pick out California nutmeg among the other conifers, and try to find a sunny spot for lunch. Dress warmly as it can be very cold in this shaded gulch. Total miles: 2.5 miles. There is little elevation change but the trail is narrow and uneven in places. Remember to bring lunch, and binoculars if you have them. No pets (except service dogs) are allowed. Adverse weather or poor air quality may cancel.
Registration is required. Use the automated system to sign up or cancel; event leaders do not manage registration.
Questions about the walk: Contact Shannon Burke at SBurke@marincounty.org.
Directions: Meet in the dirt parking area across from the Devil's Gulch trailhead. From Hwy 101 in Larkspur, take the exit for Sir Francis Drake Blvd west approximately 16 miles (approximately one mile beyond the main Samuel P Taylor Park entrance). The parking area is on the left.
