Mt. Tam

Saturday, September 15, 2018, 8am - 6pm: Surf to Summit! Hosted by California State Parks

This is our second hiking challenge of the year after the circumambulation of Mt Tam in May.

Join us in the ascent to Mt Tam's summit from sea level and back! This all-day hike will start at Stinson Beach, stops at Pantoll and West Point inn before reaching Mt Tam East Peak; it then loops back stopping at West Point Inn and Mt Theatre on the way down to Stinson Beach.

Do not make other plans for the day!

Total distance covered will be approximately 18 miles.

Difficulty:  Strenuous. Rocky soil, steep incline.

Elevation gain: 3,114ft

Average pace: 2.5 miles/hour

What to bring:

  • layered clothing
  • a sun hat
  • sunglasses
  • sunscreen
  • good hiking shoes or boots. No sandals!
  • water bottle or camelback
  • snacks and a light lunch
  • a headlamp or flashlight (just in case).
  • moleskin or other foot taping material
  • your medications
