Special Note to Women's Dipsea Hike participants!

You may have heard about the recent storm related damage at the Stinson beach parking lot, but rest assured that the hike is still on! Our hats are off to our GGNRA National Park Service colleagues who have organized significant cleanup efforts in collaboration with the Marin County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, National Marine Fisheries Service, and Conservation Corps North Bay.

The Women’s Dipsea Hike was the first women’s cross-country running event in the United States. On Saturday, April 21, we will celebrate the innovators of 1918 and the history of women’s movement in the Bay Area with a tribute hike on Mt. Tam’s Dipsea Trail! Registration is now full but we welcome you to join our pre-hike events on Tuesday April 17, Friday April 20 (more info below), and on Saturday, April 21, cheer on participants at the start and finish lines!

It takes a village! The 2018 Women’s Dipsea Hike is directed by the Dipsea Race Committee and co-hosted by One Tam, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and the National Park Service (NPS), the Mill Valley Recreation Department, the Mill Valley Library and the Mill Valley Historical Society.

  • Join us and our partners, the Mill Valley Library, for a reception, Tuesday, April 17th, 5-7 pm, to celebrate the Library’s photo exhibit: Women of the Dipsea: Celebrating 100 years of trailblazers.  No registration is required, and the exhibit will be on display through August.Learn more>>

  • Friday, April 20, 6-8pm: Mill Valley Community Center will host a presentation and bib pickup event open to both hike participants and the wider community. At 7pm, Dipsea historian Barry Spitz will give a short illustrated talk about this pioneering event. Learn more>>

Have you planned your way back? There are a few options for you to consider:

  • The Dipsea Committee has arranged shuttles that will be leaving Stinson Beach every half hour from 11:30 to 4pm

  • Carpool! Arrange for family or friends to meet you at Stinson and if you have extra space in your vehicle, can you give someone a lift back to Mill Valley? To offer a lift or to find a lift, check in at One Tam’s Roving Ranger.

  • Catch the Marin Transit Stagecoach. More information >>

  • Let us honor Earth Day by making this a ZERO WASTE event. Plan to bring and carry your own water bottle. There will be refill stations along the way at Muir Woods and Cardiac Hill

  • Enjoy an iced-coffee, compliments of Equator Coffees and Teas, at the finish line! For your caffeine fix before the hike, Equator’s Mill Valley location near Old Mill Park opens at 6:30am.

  • Thanks to Three Twins generosity, hikers will also enjoy a complimentary ice cream sandwich at the finish line!
