Lucas Valley Preserve

Take your mind off Tax Day and join Ranger Luke for a morning of exercise! We'll hike the steep Luiz Fire Road to the top of the preserve and back. We'll get our hearts pumping as we ascend 1,300 feet in the first 1.5 miles, then enjoy the breathtaking views on the descent. Total distance: 3.2 miles; elevation gain: 1,300 feet. Appropriate for ages 14 and older. Bring water and a snack. Friendly dogs are okay but must be on a leash. Adverse weather or poor air quality may cancel. Check the calendar, or if in doubt, call (415) 473-2816 two hours before the event to confirm the status. Registration required.

Directions: Meet at the gate at the bottom of Luiz Fire Rd in San Rafael (near Creekside Park). From Hwy 101 in San Rafael, take the exit for Lucas Valley Rd, west 3.7 miles. Turn right onto Westgate Dr, right onto Creekside Dr. The fire road entrance is on the left, just past the tennis courts (on the right).
